May Trip to Victoria

Tuesday 9th Day1
Was a great day for driving....blue sky ...no head wind.
First stop was Lameroo CP ...but after looking at the time (mid morning) we desided to travel on.
Second stop was Walpeup... but it was crowded...so we moved on yet again...heading south from there we ended up at Green Lake south of Sea Lake..been here so many times...pressure pump was fixed so we decided to stay a few days

Wednesday 10th Day2
Today we tried out our new Weber Baby Q ....Taco for breakfast ...roast chicken for dinner

Thursday 11th Day3
While walking around the lake...Rosie tripped over falling on her camera..hurting her upper lip..
Tonight was Weber cooking again with sausage rolls for dinner..eating them by camp fire

Friday 12th Day4
Moved on today.....dropped in on Lindsay at Berriwillock...then to Wycheproof to get 2 famous pies for lunch....then through Charlton to Skinners Flat before Wedderburn...where we made camp by the now full reservoir...campfire tonight

 

Saturday 13th Day5
Rosie tried to walk around the now lake but was blocked by the water over the track...campfire tonight

Sunday 14th Day6
We moved on today to Brim....been here so many times before

 

Monday 15th Day7
Spend day watching vans leave...more arriving..so many

Tuesday 16th Day8
same as other days...more leaving more taking their place...chatting to new arrivals

Wednesday 17th Day9
Same again........boring actually.....worst is the modem we use to get online internet seems to be dying

Thursday 18th Day10
All week we been waiting for rain......yep.....we went to Pub for dinner only to have it pour down all night......woke around midnight to see about 2" of water through our annex.........

Friday 19th Day11
Wet...wet.....foggy morning till late afternoon..trying to dry out the annex area

Saturday 20th Day12
Foggy again....annex walls are dry........packed them away...awning closed things not needed were put away.....leaving tomorrow

Sunday 21st Day13
Where to go......headed to Dimboola...then had a look at Serviceton...to slopey...an a busy body care taker......so onward...to Wolseley...to look at the WW2 fuel dumps

...then of all places Western Flat...about 30klms south of Bordertown ..60klms north of Naracoorte...arrived to see young ones packing up after a 250 people party the night before....we parked corner of the pines at the rear

Monday 22nd Day14
I dug out the flat pack fire pit...and Rosie cooked a pork roast in the campoven for dinner...wouldnt you know it....yep its raining...how the fire kept going was a miracle...had enough...we are going home tomorrow

Tuesday 23rd Day15
Early start.........fog most of the trip home...home by 12:30pm

Might not get away now till August.........we will see

ps: the modem had died.....Telstra replaced it as well as an antanna and a car kit and a battery to charge phone, tablets etc....for FREE!!

West Victoria trip first for 2017

Day 1 Wednesday 22nd March
We finally headed off to Victoria...weather was crappy......but we have already waited 2 days to get away.
Decisions which way to go....will work it out when we reach Tailem Bend..well we headed south instead of Lameroo.......head winds all the way and dark skys...ending up at Lake Ratzcastle........left overs for dinner tonight

Day 2 Thursday 23rd
Woke to a hot 35c humid day
The area where we normally camp in the swamp was still flooded ..and grass was 400mm high
We got chatty with a couple from Portland who had caravan near the toilet block..telling us of some camping places they been too..........Rosie cooked roast chicken on choofer Mk11..tonight.....with out the lid on it

Day3 Friday 24th
Another hot and humid day....Rosie tried cooking egg and bacon in taco boats for my breakfast........worked ok

Day4 Saturday 25th
Another hot and humid day and windy too..Rosie did washing and hung it on our new clothes airer...we met a couple that built their own caravan....told couple shooters off for even thinking of firing their guns....Lake Ratz...is the only lake in the area no shooting allowed duck season......in middle of breeding season

Day5 Sunday 26th
Weather turned crappy......more people came and went.......Steve surprised us by turning up on his horse.....looked at home on it ..LOL..we thought of packing up and heading back into SA

Day6 Monday 27th
we packed up early and headed south to Edenhope to auto electrition to get a 35amp fuse that hopefully will fix the 12v battery problem in van and car...Solar panels been keeping them charged but the car one seems not to hold charge...........well got that done...had a look at Apsley on was through......not that great......ended up at Naracoorte Show Ground ($20 night powered site...caretakers now on site) while on power I tried out my new battery charger on the car battery.......it showed 13.1v but the full charge light on charger didnt light..

Day7 Tuesday 28th
Left the Show Ground and headed to Cockatoo Lake only to see it busy and people shooting at the lake so after doing 68klms today we ended up at Black Cockatoo Bush Camp ($20 night non power) instead of parking near the dam as we always do we went over the hill and set up near a shelter.....had a camp fire in a old brake drum...and watched the dark cloudy sky..Rosie did clothe washing

 Day8 Wednesday 29th
Wet day not a great day.....Liz showed us photos taken of camp area flooded taken Monday 20th......tossing up whether to go home day early

Day9 Thursday 30th
We stayed on but had most things packed...early morning was nice but storm clouds came in.....I was wondering if we made good choice in staying......but we had some good periods and turned out clear skys tonight by camp fire..

Day10 Friday 31st
Packed up early and was on road by 7:40am.....getting home around 1:15pm

Have a list of things to fix or change......after all said........this was first trip since last October
