West Vic trip March 2020
Monday day 1
Left home around 8am..arrived at Lake Ratzcastle around 2pm
Setup with car facing enterence was fairly warm...only ones here.
Tuesday day 2
Decided there wasn't much shade on 30+deg. day so we packed up most of the van and did a 360deg. and put out the awning ...more shade. We have one other van here arrived about 6:45pm other than that all quiet...lake is getting low and no water left in the swamp... can't believe it is 6 months since we were here last
Wednesday day 3
Another hot day above 33c...stormy skies but nothing..still 28c tonight
Thursday day 4
Yep still hot today...Forestry Fire Management had 2 fire trucks here today being Total Fire Ban ....anyone caught with a fire gets fined and or jail ....most people left mid-morning..just 2 vans here tonight..much cooler 20c..
Friday day 5
It's lot cooler today 23c max...few more vans came in late today making total of 5......now latest news
Well the sh#$s hit the fan here..the Shires have all gone nuts and have closed lot of towns ...and campsites and caravan parks..also Parks Vic are doing same..and heard tonight they are thinking of closing State boarders to stop the virus...not helping us as we were thinking of heading north from here but may not get there....Also no food available at Bendigo..Ballarat..Warnenabool.. Shepherton ....hope I spelt them right
So might be home earlier than I should look
Sunday day 7
Well about 9:30am we got the news SA was closing the boarder so quick pack up and first a shop at IGA Goroke Vic and they let Rosie buy few things then backroad to Black Cockatoo bush camp in SA where we setup only 4 others here..how long we are staying here who knows
Monday day 8
Caught up with Ken and Liz...they said it was ok to have an enclosed campfire so later we set up the King's stove
Tuesday day 9
Sat by the fire most of the day...averaging 20c day and overcast but fine...we are camped down back by a lean too
Wednesday day 10
Ken and Liz both want us to stay...even though they have closed the place to all but self contained RV's...they have left the back toilet block for us..we were planning to go home tomorrow but they want us to stay another week.
but we will head home Friday at this stage
Thursday day 11
Thought we were going home today....but you know what thought did...no we are going home tomorrow....we had the showers and toilets for ourselves today...saw a wallaby this arvo when Rosie went for a walk in the scrub area...using up the wood in the fire today...I am not taking it home with me this time.
Friday day 12
Packed up and was on the road 8:45am...headed into Naracoorte got fuel then headed home...only had 4 cars pass us whole trip...90% of traffic heading towards us were empty semi's heading south and east
Home around 1:30pm...unpacked finished it by 4pm....
Now to wait ....coronavirus...is it real or just another Flu???
